Notes for Samuel Webb Sr.
There is debate as to if my ancestor Samuel Webb was the son of William Webb143 or John Webb III.83 This Samuel Webb was clearly the son of William and Jane Webb but the timing makes it appear that it is possibly the wrong William and Jane Webb. Nonie Webb’s research says this is the proper ancestor.110 DNA analysis using Ancestry.com’s ThruLines confirms that Samuel Webb and Rebecca Martin are my 5G Grandparents and the parents of William Smith Webb..

Barbara Born147 lists a Polly Webb who married Soloman Pickelsimer in 1804 as a child. I haven’t added her yet because I am looking into the possibility that Polly Webb and Mary Webb are the same person.

Here is what one research112 says about Samuel Webb:

Samuel went from New Kent/Henrico to Bedford, Franklin County, Virginia to Sumner County, Tennessee
Bedford Co.,VA. 1782
Franklin Co.,VA. 1810
1787 Tax list.
Samuel 00010
James 00016
Jacob..100030
Theodrick 015221045
Sumner Co., TN. 1797
Webb Lands in Sumner, TN
On border of Robertson &
KY Line.(close to Franklin KY)
Western end of Sumner at Whitehouse

I believe that the Jacob and Theodorick Webb’s listed above are Samuel’s cousins (the sons of John Webb (1693). One thing that doesn’t make sense is the Franklin County, VA reference in 1810 after he was settled in Sumner County in 1797.

All sources of data are documented on the “Person Sheet” for each individual. My early data often came from less-than-reliable sources (e.g., “Sarah’s genealogy pages”). If the only sources for a person is something like that or worse there is no listed source for data, please take the information as only a suggestion and not a fact.
