Here is Fred Webb’s recollection of “Uncle Tom”:324

Dad and Mom were the only ones of the family that attended the funeral. Uncle Max had just died two weeks before and Dad was the only one of the family that got the word of Uncle Tom's death. That was only because Dad had written to Uncle Tom of Uncle Max's death. Uncle Tom was in town and showed the letter to some of his buddies. He then said, as I recall Dad stating it, "I'm not feeling too good. I think I'll go out to the the shack and lay down for a while." He walked out to cross the street and dropped dead. He had Dad's address in the letter so Dad was contacted. Otherwise, we would probably not have known of his death. Mom and Dad left the next morning and drove back to the funeral. Lynn was about 15 and I was 9 as it was in 1950.

The death certificate shows a birth date that looks to have originally been 11-12-1882 and then modified to 11-12-1881. His mother and father were married on 11-12-1882 and census data indicates a birth in August 1885 so I suspect the information on the death certificate is incorrect.

All sources of data are documented on the “Person Sheet” for each individual. My early data often came from less-than-reliable sources (e.g., “Sarah’s genealogy pages”). If the only sources for a person is something like that or worse there is no listed source for data, please take the information as only a suggestion and not a fact.
