Notes for Miranda Blackburn
Laura Beard1673 writes, “Any information on John Deweese and wife Miranda Blackburn Deweese who were listed in 1850 census White Co. They were the parents of my great grandmother Nancy Tennessee Deweese Holman Sliger. John was not in the 1860 census and Miranda was married to Claiborne Rogers and living in Putnam Co. Any help would be appreciated.”

Laura also wrote:

I have found this family (her parents) in the 1850 Census of White Co. TN.
Nancy was born in 1854. Her parents were John Deweese and Miranda Blackburn.

1850 Census White Co. Tn. 1623-236

Deweese John 39
Miranda 33
Blackburn, Leah 57 (Miranda's Mother)
Deweese Alfred l6
Grenville H. 15
Lucinda 12
John H. 10
Martha J. 8
William B. 6

1860 census found Miranda married to Claiborne Rogers with the following
children included Lucinda 21, Martha 16, William 13, John L. 9, Samuel R.
9, Nancy T. 7, Jesse G. 4, Alexander l. Putnam Co. TN. 194-69.

1880 census has Miranda and Claiborne rogers living with S R DeWees in Putnam County, TN along with Samuel’s son Jessie and Samuel’s niece (Miranda’s grand child) Josie, age 9.1661 I have not yet determined who Josie is.

It would seem that John Deweese died sometime after Nancy Tennesse was born in 1854.

There is a general concensus that she died June 11, 1900 in Robertson County, TN, but I have not yet found any records to indicate that and I doubt it to be true because she appears in the Robertson County, TN census RECORDED on June 11, 1900. What are the odds that she died on the day the census was taken compared to the odds that someone saw the census record and mistook it for her death date?
