Notes for Samuel Adams
American Patriot, Samuel Adams, had Bachelor and Master Degrees from Harvard. He was friends with John Hancock, John Jay, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington - he nominated George Washington to head the Continental Army to unify the North Colonies with the South Colonies over John Hancock who wanted the job. He helped organize the Boston Tea Party. With his friend John Hancock and Thomas Jefferson was instrumental in getting the Bill of Rights in the Constitution to keep the Federal Government from having too much power over the States and Individuals. He was signer of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. He was a malster, tax collector, member Legislature, Lt. Govenor of Massachusetts in 1789 with John Hancock as Govenor until he was 77. His cousin and contemporary President John Adams called him an incorruptible integrity. He was for individual freedom with little government except by the people. He was short and plump and has an excellant statue in Dock Square, Boston.539

All sources of data are documented on the “Person Sheet” for each individual. My early data often came from less-than-reliable sources (e.g., “Sarah’s genealogy pages”). If the only sources for a person is something like that or worse there is no listed source for data, please take the information as only a suggestion and not a fact.
