Notes for William Smith Webb
I am not sure what to do with Susannah. Smith lived with Mary Milan Canterberry137 for the last 30 years of his life. It seems out of place for him to have married in Onslow, NC while his parents and childern were from Virginia.
William Edward Webb said he tracked down a family Bible that indicated Samuel and Rebecca were the parents of Smith Webb who died in 1817. Nonie Webb indicates that this is the Smith Webb who died in 1817.83 It is not impossible that Samuel and Rebecca Webb had a son who they named William Smith Webb (this one) and then this one was the father of the William Smith Webb that I list as William Smith Webb Sr. but that would require an additional spouse for the birth date of William Smith Webb (1775) and it would be when this William Smith Webb was only 18.
Descendants moved to Sumner and Robertson Co., TN.110
One source indicates that this is William Smith Webb born in 1757 in Virginia to Samuel and Rebecca Webb.125 That would fit with a more reasonable time frame for their children (instead of starting their family when Samuel was over 35 and ending when he was 65 or so.
