Tamar and Nancy Duke were twins.
31 Aug. 1787, William Duke gave to his granddaughter, Mary Wortham, daughter of Tamar Wortham, a Negro. Witness: Jonathan Davis. (Warren Co. Will Book 4, #256) On that same date he gave another Negro to his daughter Tamar Wortham and her children by the name Wortham. (Warren Co. Will Book 4, #265) 9 Mar 1799, May Court, 1799: Edward Jones and his wife Tamar to her children, James Wortham, William Wortham, John Wortham, Thomas Wortham, Edward Wortham, Benjamin Heath Wortham, Duke Wortham, Robert Wortham, and Polley Wortham. Gift of a Negro slave lent her by her father William Duke, dec'd. to be given to her children who then bore the name of Wortham. Wit: Robert Jones, J.P. and Phil Hawkins, Jr., Esq. who took private acknowledgment of Mrs. Tamar Jones. (Warren Co. Will Book 10, #104)
