Tabitha's surname is presumed to be Dixon as she had a son named Dixon and a daughter, Elizabeth Dixon. No marriage record has been found by this researcher.
On Feb. 13, 1782, Tabitha Marshall, was named guardian to John, Tabitha, William, Matthew, Charles and Peggy Marshall (all minors), orphans of John Marshall, dec'd. Bond for 15,000 pds. to William Johnson and Philemon Hawkins, Esqurs., Justices. Securities: William White, John Wortham (husband of daughter Elizabeth) and Dixon Marshall (son of John & Tabitha). On that same date, Tabitha Marshall, Administrator of the estate of John Marshall, paid a bond for 20,000 pds. to Alexander Martin, "Speaker of the Senate and Commander in Chief for the time being". At the May Court, 1782, the estate of John Marshall, dec'd, was divided between: widow Tabitha (1/3) and ten children: Capt. William White, Richard Moore and John Wortham (husbands of dtrs. of dec'd); Capt. Dixon Marshall, John, Tabitha, William, Matthew, Charles and Peggy Marshall, orphans. Appraisers: Will Johnson, Phil Hawkins and William Duke who made note that share of the six youngest children is in hands of their Guardian Mother and that those of age have received their share.
