The 1930 US Federal Census lists Edith C Larson, age 30 after J Edwin Larson. She is followed by Edward N Larson (age 4 8/12) and Gertrude M Larson (age 1 7/12). If I could see the census forms I could determine if this is his family.
1998His obituary reads:
J. Edwin Larson was born January 17, 1902 at Chariton to Emma and G.N. Larson and he spent his entire life in Lucas County. He passed away July 8, 1983 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital at the age of eighty-one.
On February 26, 1925, he was united in marriage to Edith Cecilian Sandahl. To this union two children were born, Edward N. of Topeka, Kans. and Trudy Sheldon of Chariton.
Mr. Larson farmed all his life in this community until his health failed.
He belonged to the Swedish Covenant Church and upon this church’s dispersal, he became a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his two aforementioned children, a daughter-in-law, Audrey Larson of Topeka and a son-in-law, Paul Sheldon of Chariton. Mr. Larson’s other surviving relatives include seven grandchildren, Stan, Brent, Dean and Dale Larson, Debbie Winrick and Nancy and Diane Sheldon, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Lillie Bingaman of Auburn, Calif., and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, his parents and three of his sisters, Ellen Larson, Anna Larson and Minnie Wiren.
He will always be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend whose concern was always for those other than himself.
In honor of J. Edwin Larson and in reverence to his passing, a poem:
The stillness has come
a white light
and with it comes the difference
between knowing and believing
promises that were made have been kept
and the extended hand
has been met with a welcoming touch
there is comfort,
there is meaning
and the waiting is over.
Diane Sheldon
