George Clower (1754-1822) He enlisted in the Revolution in Virginia on Feb. 4, 1776 and served in Captain Jonathan Clarke’s company, Colonels Muhlenberg’s and Abraham Bowman’s 8th Virginia Regiment; was in the battle of Brandywine and “on the baggage guard at Germantown” and was discharged at Valley Forge in 1778, having served two years.

He settled in Woodstock, Va. By 1783 in which year he married Susannah Black. He is shown in the 1790 Census (spelled Clour) of Shennandoh Co., Va. And died in Woodstock in 1822, a highly respected citizen. He and his wife had eight children and a history of this family was compiled several years ago by one of their descendants.
