Notes for Stephen Moore
Lt. Col Stephen Moore come to N,.C. & built a home in Person Co. which he called Mt. Tizah. He died there 5-20-1799. His wife, called Gusey in the Bible, was named Griselda. In 1779 he was given charge of a regiment of NC State Troops. He was in the 1st battle of Camden SC. He is the ancestor of Mrs. Mary McIver Stanford ( Mrs. Chas) Chapel Hill NC who gave this record. Mary, of this record m Hon. Richard Stanford while representing NC in Congress. He was b 3--2-1767; d. 4-9-1816; buried in the congressional cemetery. His dates are from the Bible of his daughter Cornelia Adeline who m. Alexander Smith Webb.2924
