10She studied for the first 10 years in Chowchilla and then on to Fresno Academy where she graduated in 1938. Then it was on to PUC until 1941. She taught in Northern and Central California Conference from starting in 1941. She taught in San Francisco, Shafter, Placerville, Lodi, and again in Placerville. It was back to PUC where she completed her bachelor's degree in 1950. She then accepted a call in 1951 to Singapore to help organize Far Eastern Academy and to solicit for students from the field. She taught biology and the 7th and 8th grades. She took a one-year furlough in 1955 and studied.
Leeta went to Indonesia in 1956 to teach elementary children from the union and college in Bandung. She taught in a garage of her house and had all 8 grades in one room. After this term in the mission field, she completed a master's degree at Stanford in 1960.
In 1970-72 she was principal of Chowchilla Junior Academy where she was the first principal in the new school building built of used materials from demolished buildings from Camp Beale near Marysville, CA. In 1972 she moved to Los Banos where she taught for two years. Then she transferred to Lakeport, CA.
In 1975 she went to Philippine Union College where she taught expatriate elementary school plus English, and principles of teaching in the college. On May 30, 1983 she came home permanent return and retired in Carmichael where she cared for her mother, Alma Marie Hemme, until Alma's death March 20, 1994. She now lives with her widowed sister Della, in Carmichael.
