Some sources list him as being born in 1620 and being the son of Richard, son of William Micajah.
539 Another source states, “For now we don't know his heritage. He CANNOT be the son of Richard born in 1603.”
592The Webbs of Gloucestershire, England, were in the business of making cloth.
There are many Giles Webbs in the records; it seems to be a popular family name. A Giles Webb, son of Giles at Bisley, was christened in 1608; another Giles Webb, son of John at Gloucester, was christened in 1610. Either one of these could be our first American ancestor.
Giles Webb immigrated from England to Upper Norfolk County, Virginia on Oct.6, 1646 as a headright of Thomas Babe. He was a Burgess of Mansemond County (formerly Upper Norfolk) 1658-60. He patented 681 acres on the Rappahannock River March 16, 1667. This land was handed down to his grandson, James Webb, of Isle of Wight County. He sold the land in two parcels, November 5, 1706, and November 27, 1715. The second deed described the patentee as the "grandfather of James Webb."
