Notes for Carl Johan Larson
There are varying stories about how many families immigrated together. Gail Larson Walker recounts that there were four other families.26 This appears to be a direct quotation from David Larson’s recollections.1953 Elna Larson recounts from memories of her father Axel Harry Larson that they come with one other family and Kalle Brun (Charlie Brown) was one of the members of the group.1954 Alice Noren Robson recounts that Anders and Sofia Erlandson and their children immigrated together with the Larson family.1955 They arrived in North America on the SS Moravian on October 8, 1868.902

In the 1880 US Census he is listed as Charles Larson who is farming with his four oldest sons (David and Ida were still attending school at that time) in Lincoln, Lucas County, IA. There is a four year old male (listed as other for relationship) named Emil Bergman living with the family as well.895

Here is his obituary:

--Died, at his home in Lincoln township, Saturday, September 28, Carl Larson, aged seventy-five years. A wife and eight children survive him. Four of his children who live in Kansas were not present. The remains were laid to rest Tuesday in the Chariton cemetery.1930

He and his wife Johanna share a large tombstone. To the left are the graves of his daughter Emma, his son Gust Nathaniel, and Nathaniel’s family. Carl’s tombstone says:

All sources of data are documented on the “Person Sheet” for each individual. My early data often came from less-than-reliable sources (e.g., “Sarah’s genealogy pages”). If the only sources for a person is something like that or worse there is no listed source for data, please take the information as only a suggestion and not a fact.
