Grandpa was a shiner. Bennie made moonshine on the Oklahoma side of theRed River and sold it on the Texas side. He owned a fish market. Acustomer would come in and ask for a particular size and type of fish. That was the code for the type and amount of shine the customer wanted. He kept a stash of shine under the house. One evening a customer cameover and Grandpa sent Aunt Juanita to get the stuff when along came thelaw and raided the house. She stayed under the house the whole time withthe sheriff standing right over her.
