ELMER JOHNSON A SUICIDE
Young Man of Laing Township In a Fit of Despondency Takes His Own Life
Elmer Johnson, a young man of Laing Township, took his own life last Saturday evening. He used a 22 caliber rifle to accomplish the act of self-destruction. He placed the muzzle of the gun against his forehead and pulled the trigger. Death was instantaneous.
The young man had been in poor health for some time and it is thought that in a fit of despondency, he decided to end it all and while other members of the family were busy with the evening chores, he procured the rifle and going a short distance from the house ended his life. The gun was still clasped in his hand when the body was found a few moments later.
The funeral was held at the home at two o'clock p.m. Monday. Scripture reading and prayer by S. Gust Carlson and the interment was made in the Mission Friend Cemetery.
