Ernest Wilbert Carlson was born to Sven Gustaf and Hulda Emelia Carlson in Rawlins county, Kansas, on October 8, 1912. On June 7,1944, Ernest married LeeOra Ellen Rezner. They made their home on the S. Gust Carlson homestead. To this union were born 4 children: Myra Ellen - born Nov. 30, 1945; Aaron Ernest - born June 17, 1948; Ralph Walter born Nov. 22, 1950; and Elvera Lynette - born Jan. 21, 1954.
Except for the fall and winter of 1956-57, in which the family lived in Wheatridge, Colorado, Ernest and his family resided on the home place.
Ernest and his family were faithful members of the Herndon Covenant Church.
In October of 1957, LeeOra passed away succumbing to cancer.
The children attended grade school at rural Linda and Atwood city school. Aaron, Ralph, and Elvera graduated from Atwood High school, and Myra from Oberlin.
On July 18, 1964, Ernest married Kathryn Johnson from North Branch, Minn. Kathryn had spent the preceding 4 years as a missionary in Ecuador. Kathryn's parents, Anton and Florance I Johnson, also from North Branch,Minn. lived with Ernest and Kathry for a number of years until their death.
Ernest and Kathryn farmed the home place until Ernest's death on June 16, r 1975, at which time Ralph took over and is presently farming it.
