Senior Master Sgt. Leonard Wayne Swallom Sr., USAF (Ret.)
Leonard Wayne Swallom Sr., 77, of Camden died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, in his daughter’s home.
Mr. Swallom was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Chicago, son of the late Earl and Florence Breshears Swallom.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from the U.S. Air Force as a senior master sergeant in 1982.
Mr. Swallom moved to Delaware from Kentucky in 2003 to be closer to his family, especially his great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Burton Swallom; and two great-grandchildren, Haley Garrett and Jonathan Miller.
Mr. Swallom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Snyder Swallom; a daughter and best friend and son-in-law, Lorraine and Jonathan Miller of Wyoming; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard Jr. and Pamela Swallom of Wintersville, Ga.; and five brothers, his twin, Leslie Swallom of Knoxville, Tenn., Stanley Swallom of Roy, Utah, Wilbur Swallom of Malott, Wash., Stephen Swallom of Franklin, Ohio, and David Swallom of Lexington, Ky.
He also is survived by five grandchildren, Russell Miller, Shanna Merka, Jonell Garrett, Timothy Miller and Linden Swallom; and seven great-grandchildren, Dylan Miller, Ethan Garrett, Jacob Garrett, Justin Miller, Sophia Merka, Jonathan Miller and Kirsten Miller.
Arrangements were by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
Celebration of Life services were held privately.
