There is conjecture that he was Henry Webb (1832-1863) who married Martha Jane Baber on October 19, 1853 in Smyth County, VA. This Henry was the son of Joseph Webb and Margaret Dickerson from Grayson County, VA. I call this conjecture because the same record also lists him with THREE variations on the name for Henry Webb. They are given names of “Henry Green Webb” with the birth and death dates for John Henry Webb, James Henry Webb with the birth date of John Henry Webb, and John Greenville Webb.7320 But the 1850 census of Smyth County, VA shows that Joseph and Margery Webb had children Greenville, Henry, and Hester with Greenville a year older than Henry and Hester two years younger. The 1860 census shows Hester, Henry, Marha J and three young children named William R, James H, and John G. While Hester is listed first, she is younger than Henry so I assume that William, James, and John are the children of Henry and Martha J (Baber), and Greenville has moved out. Granville Webb and wife Rebecca Call are found in the 1960 census of Smyth County, VA living with the family of Elijah Call. But there is no son matching John Henry Webb from a previous marriage.
