Notes for John Webb
The 1860 Sumner County, TN census has an Eliza Webb (age 25) and Sarah Webb (age 2) as the last two entries in the William Smith Webb family. Since John is the only son of marrying age living with the family, I suspect that this is John’s wife and daughter.82

A will for JS Webb (sons Brody E Webb, Charley Webb, and John W. Webb along with wife Nancy J. Webb) was proven in Sumner County on September 25, 1903. From other sources I am sure it is not this John.

John E Webb married Emma C Staley on September 22, 1859 in Sumner County, TN. Could be this John Webb (would be 20 at marriage) but the name is too common to associate just by county and name (for instance, a John W Webb married Francis A Wilson in Sumner County, TN on December 23, 1869--could be this one just married later in age).265

A John W. S. Webb died in military service. Here is my info: “Webb, John W. S. - 5th Sergeant on September 29, 1862. Captured at Fort Donelson, Tennessee. Exchanged. Wounded at Chickamauga, Georgia on September 19, 1863. Died from wounds on September 27, 1863. “266

A John J Webb was born December 25, 1838 and died in Kansas February 5, 1914.267 He married Mary Branham in Bradley County, TN.

All sources of data are documented on the “Person Sheet” for each individual. My early data often came from less-than-reliable sources (e.g., “Sarah’s genealogy pages”). If the only sources for a person is something like that or worse there is no listed source for data, please take the information as only a suggestion and not a fact.
