Notes for John Askey
Below is his will:
4208In the year of our Lord 1840
I John Askey of the County and State of Tennessee being sick of body, but of sound mind do make this my last will and testament. First _____ giveth my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent burial to be paid for out of my estate. I leave to my beloved wife the plantation whereon I now live so long as she live there to be divided between my two sons John W. and Leonard Askey. I leave to Howard Lewis and his heirs the place where he now lives by paying A. H. Douglass, Hayes (?) twenty (?) dollars. I leave to Micajau Penn and ___ his heirs fifty acres of land lying in the ridge above William Lorenze (?) by paying ten dollars of my just debts. I leave to my daughter Nancy a cow and calf and feather bed. I leave to my son Elsiah Askey a cow and calf or the price of one after the death of my wife. All the household and kitchen furniture and stock of all kind to be divided between my two sons John W. and Leonard Askey. I leave my two sons named my executors ____ ___ give my security.
