Notes for Samuel Timothy Houser
According to records I found in the 1930 Census, Sam Houser was married to Maxine and living in Kansas City. But in a lawsuit in 1928, Sam Houser testified that he could not be married to Maxine and living in Kansas City because he married Edna A Brookfield on April 9, 1923 in Lincoln and is still her husband. He denied being engaged to anyone.
6494 One month later a relative (Mrs. Nettie Stephens) recanted her story, and instead claimed that Maxine’s real name was Iris Mildred George and that “Maxine” claimed to have married Sam Houser in 1927 (which agrees with her age and age when first married in the 1930 census) but that she (Mrs. Stephens) did not believe it to be true.
