Funeral services for Fred E. Habenicht, a retired warehouseman for the San Juan Unified School District, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Brothers Chapel, 4221 Manzanita Ave. Burial will be private. He died Tuesday in a Sacramento hospital after suffering a stroke more than two weeks ago.
1026Mr. Habenicht, 70, moved to Sacramento in the early 1950s and worked six years with the Sacramento County Building Inspection Department. He then joined the school district and worked 20 years before retiring in 1983. The Argentina native immigrated to the United States as an infant with his parents and settled in Michigan. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a longtime member of the Carmichael Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mr. Habenicht is survived by his wife of 47 years, Della; daughters, Delfred Krussow of Healdsburg, Hilda Mae Blanchard of South Laguna, Orange County, and Arla Clapp of Silver Spring, Md.; a son, Fred C. of Orangevale; sisters, Dr. Hilda Habenicht of Jackson, Mich., and Mercedes Dyer of Berrien Springs, Mich.; a brother, Glen of Battle Creek, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.
The family requests that any remembrances be made to the Carmichael Seventh-day Adventist Church Building Fund, 4600 Winding Way, Sacramento, 95841.
