In a letter Bessie wrote to her brother Art on December 14, 1978 she said, ‘I still talk or correspond with my “real” parents--I miss not having mom & dad (Fred & Nora) too.’ This indicates that she was aware of who here birth parents were and maintained contact with them well after her adoptive parents had died.5962

Her name at birth was Gertrude Mae Wood-Bullock.5963
