Sean Dale O'Donnell

Sean Dale O'Donnell, a native of Pleasanton and 19-year resident, died May 12 from an accident. He was 19 years old.

O'Donnell, who had been a waiter at TGI Friday's and at Buttercup Pantry, greatly enjoyed making people laugh. He also enjoyed hiking, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves his parents, Dennis O'Donnell of Oakland and Heather O'Donnell of Pleasanton; brother Paul Fagundes of Pleasanton; grandmother Lorraine Hanson of Pleasanton; and great-grandmother Clarice Moore of San Jose.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow, May 19. The service will be held at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Dublin. The burial was held privately.

Boy, 7, Is Hurt Fatally In Fall Into Corn Chopper

Seven year old Peter Arne Couchman died last night in a local hospital of injuries suffered Monday when he fell into a corn chopper. The Sylvan Elementary School youngster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hurley Paul Couchman of Modesto, made a valiant fight for life but officials said the injuries proved too severe for recovery. He was under surgery for nearly six hours after the accident. The boy fell into the machinery Monday afternoon at his father's farm at 3116 Coffee Road. His injuries included a severe compound fracture of the skull, other fractures and severe lacerations.

Survivors Are Listed: He leaves, besides his parents, three brothers, Mark Erik, Jonathan Paul and David Brian Couchman, and two sisters, Sarah Louise an Rebecca Ingrid Couchman, all of Modesto; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Couchman of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, and and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Christiansen of Modesto, and eight uncles and aunts. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM tomorrow in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Stanley Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park. The family requests that any remembrance be made to the Peter Arne Couchman Memorial Fund at the First Baptist Church. The Franklin Downs Funeral Home is charge of services.

Hulda Christiansen, Mar 13, 1917 - Apr 15, 2012

Hulda was born on Christofferson Road near Turlock and moved shortly thereafter to what was to become the family home for the next 95 years on Carpenter and Grayson, where she died Sunday.

She was a graduate of Jones School, Ceres HS, MJC, and Santa Barbara State College before teaching three years in Goleta and one year in San Bernardino, then entering Claremont Graduate School to work on an administrative credential in education. In WWII, she organized entertainment for the USO in Honolulu and at Herlong Ordnance Depot near Reno before beginning a career in finance/accounting with the U.S. State Department's Foreign Service, during which time she was posted to Ecuador, Philippines, Mexico City, Greece, Afghanistan, Washington, DC, Haiti, Bolivia, Southern Rhodesia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Ivory Coast, Costa Rica, Iceland, and Nigeria.

After retiring, she cared for her parents and brother and started new careers in real estate and almond farming.

She is predeceased by parents Frederick and Kirsten Christiansen and brothers Carl, Arne, and James Christiansen of Modesto.

She is survived by sisters Thelma Couchman (Hurley) of Modesto and Lilian Eaton of Galt; sisters-in-law Evelyn Christiansen of Modesto and Alma Deiparinae Christiansen of Turlock; nieces Carole Beyers (Jack) of Danville, Arlene Webb (Fred) of Waterford, Christine Eaton (Dan Culhane) of San Luis Obispo, Sarah Dove (Duane) of Santa Rosa, Rebecca Eaton of Galt, Rebecca Harrison (David) of San Jose, Rachel Eaton (Rico Balatti) of Concord; nephews David Christiansen (Fran) and Jon Christiansen of Modesto, Michael Eaton (Charity Kenyon) of Galt, Richard Eaton (Toni) of Carmichael, Jonathan Couchman (Dorita Robinson) of Modesto, Mark Couchman (Mona) of Sonoma, and David Couchman (Mary) of Modesto; more than three dozen grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin and Downs Funeral Homes. A Visitation will be this Friday from 3-7 PM at Franklin & Downs-South Chapel at Magnolia and 5th in Ceres. A graveside service will be held this Saturday at 10:30AM at Lakewood Cemetery in Hughson.
