Jack Ronald Wobig was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Pine Island Township to Frank and Alice (Tanner) Wobig. He went to a small country school called District 107 for grades 1-4, then Lena Sparks School for 5-7 and attended Pine Island High School until 11th grade. Jack joined the Navy on Feb. 5, 1945. He was discharged on March 23, 1946, after suffering rheumatic fever.

He married Dolores Berndt on Sept. 13, 1948, in Rochester. She passed away on Oct. 10, 1971. Jack married Brenda Sample on June 16, 1972, in Elkton, S.D. They later divorced, but remained very close friends.

Jack was a farmer, and sold seed corn. When he sold the farm he moved into town and sold houses for Adler Realty. Then he went to work at the Rochester State Hospital as a stores clerk, delivering supplies to various locations all across the hospital campus.

He was an avid airplane pilot heaved his own J3 Cub p!ane; then he bought an ultralight and loved to fly. He also loved to fish. He even enjoyed metal detecting; he had several detectors for the love of the hunt. He was an avid motorcyclist and loved to ride his bike. He would travel all across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Jack is survived by his son, Lonnie (Pam) Wobig of Rochester; daughters, Leaetta (Bill) Wobig of Rochester, Jackie Drenckhahn (Larry Wilson) of Rochester, Samantha Leibold (Josh Turner) of Pine Island, and Melonie (Adam) Croney of West Concord; a brother, Jerry (Cheryl) Wobig of West Concord; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Wobig of South Dakota. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alice Wobig; his first wife Dolores; and his brother Bill; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Jack will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know him.

A celebration of life will be on Thursday, Sept. 24, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pine Island. Visitation will start at 10 a.m., and the service at 11 a.m., with a light lunch to follow.

Irene M. Koresky, 91, of Wahoo died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Saunders County Hospital in Wahoo.

She was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Plainview to and Lottie (Lakin) Young. She married Thurman Koresky on March 18, 1932, in Neligh. They farmed for 25 years in Lancaster County, Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa, and Cambridge. She also worked for many years as a waitress in various cafes and volunteered as a senior companion in Wahoo for nearly two decades.

She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Malmo, having joined in 1956.

Survivors include: a son, Lee (and wife, Loretta) Koresky of Malmo; two granddaughters, a great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, including her twin, a brother and two infant grandsons.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo. Friends are invited to gather at the Malmo home of Leland and Loretta Koresky following visitation. Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Funk officiating.

A memorial has been established to the Wahoo Animal Hospital in care of Dr. W. F. Hancock.
