Rice.--June E. Sufficool Rice was born in Nealsville, Wisc., May 9, 1873. As a child she early embraced the truth we hold dear. She trained as a nurse in Battle Creek, Mich., and on Nov. 25, 1896, she was united in marriage with Charles E. Rice.

Health reasons brought them from their Wisconsin home to Colorado, and in 1905 they were connected with the Boulder Sanitarium. From that time on their lives were given to the medical work of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination. They served at Boulder Sanitarium, Paradise Valley Sanitarium, St. Helena Sanitarium, Hinsdale Sanitarium, and were identified with the Porter Sanitarium at the time of its founding. In 1931 her husband passed away at the Porter Sanitarium where he was serving as business manager. She continued on in active service at the Porter Sanitarium in nursing and administrative lines until ill health forced her to retire from active service in 1933. For many years she made her home in Denver, where she took an active interest in the York Street church. In later years she lived with her daughter in southern California and in Florida.

On April 24 of this year she was confined to her bed in the Florida Sanitarium, and on July 30 she passed to her rest awaiting the call of the great Lifegiver. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lois Larson of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Harley E. Rice, of Melrose, Mass.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The story of her life is closed. The hand of God reached down and shut the book, but the lessons of love the volume contained will linger long in the hearts of all who knew her.

Words of comfort were spoken by the writer to the sorrowing relatives and friends who had assembled in Denver to pay their respects. The body of Sister Rice was laid to rest in the Crown Hill cemetery.
