Our beloved father, brother and uncle, Thomas Albert Hartvigsen, was living in Portland, Oregon when he left this world on April 23, 2008, due to respiratory problems. Tom was born July 5, 1934 in Santaquin, Utah to Arthur Lorenzo Hartvigsen, Sr. and Margaret May Thomas Burraston Hartvigsen. He grew up in Santaquin and attended Santaquin and Payson schools. He attended 5th grade in Dragerton, Utah while living there during WWII. He graduated from Payson High School, with some further schooling at the University of Utah.

Tom married Mary Michelle Hardt December 31, 1976. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. They shared a good marriage for many years that didn't quite make it to the finish line. Tom is adored by his many relatives, and so are Michelle and their children. Tom cherished their three sons and two daughters: Kris, Melissa, Greg, Sara & her husband Darrell Chaffin, and Matt. They reared their family in San Diego County, California and Washougal, Washington. Tom was a talented lithographer in the printing industry and served many years as Union President. His children say a one word description of their Dad is SELFLESS. He was a thoughtful, gentle, fun relative and friend. He was a man of great faith and love of God. He was a talented musician, gracious and generous host, and blessed the lives of those who knew him with his many talents and warm personality. In January, he was given an award from BYU as British Volunteer of the Month in the Immigrant Ancestors Project. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brothers & sisters and in-laws: Winnie & Lester Gee, Jim & Doris Burraston, Elvera Hartvigsen, Marjorie Hartvigsen Peterson Taylor and her husbands Clarence Peterson & Kendall Taylor, Ruth & Lloyd Mills, John Emil Hartvigsen, Norma Cazier Hartvigsen, Margaret & Vaughn Tolman, Melvin Hartvigsen, Theresa LaCosta Hartvigsen, Jim Durrant, and several nieces and nephews.

Tom is survived by his former wife Michelle and their children: Kris, of Allenhurst, Georgia; Melissa of Portland, Oregon; Greg of Mtn. View, California; Sara & her husband Darrell of Washougal; and Matt of Washougal. He is survived by his brothers & sisters and in-laws: Arthur Lorenzo Hartvigsen, Jr., Jessie Myers Hartvigsen, Asa Curtis Hartvigsen, Randy & Sybil Judge Hartvigsen, Mary Lou Durrant, Shirley & Bob Peterson, Marda & Kay Mendenhall. He is also survived by, and treasured by, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 9, 2008 at the old Santaquin Stake Center, 90 South 200 East, Santaquin. Family and friends may call Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the services. Interment will be at the Goshen City Cemetery.

10150. “Tributes,” Donald Scott Sloan, Greeley Tribune, Greeley, CO, May 30, 2010.
Donald Scott Sloan, son of John Henry and Olive Ida (Scott) Sloan, went home to his Lord on May 23, 2010, in Johnstown, Colo. Donald was born at the family home in Elwell, Colo., on March 19, 1936.

He and his twin Ronald were very small at birth and not expected to live. They surprised everyone by surviving. They were welcomed by three older siblings, Wanda, Lawrence and Annabelle.

Donald went to Johnstown schools and excelled in athletics. He graduated and went to Colorado State University for one year before returning to help his father with the family farm.

In 1958, he married Joan Sterkel, and from that union a daughter was born, Tammy. The couple then divorced, and he met and married Barbara Austin in 1962 in Longmont. From this union was born four children, Sandra, Bridgette, William and Ruth. They lived in the family farm until 1996 when Donald and Barbara moved to their present home in Johnstown.

After four decades of working the family farm, he worked a short time as an under-sterilant sprayer, and then as a ditch superintendent for Home Supply Ditch. He spent more than 10 years at that job.

Donald was a member of the Milliken Presbyterian Church, The Scott Clan Society, Johnstown Senior citizens, and the Johnstown Historical Society. He also enjoyed following the Roosevelt High School baseball and basketball teams. He and several of his friends could be found in the bleachers cheering on the young men and women every year.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Tammy and Jeffery Patrignangi of Fredricksburg, Va., Sandra and Darrel Forslund of Spencer, Iowa, Bridgette and Mark Muse of Eaton, Bill and Kim Sloan of Greeley, and Ruth and John Willbanks of Johnstown; and his grandchildren, Chris and Mary Patrignani, Erik, Luke, David and Daniel Forslund, Bailey and Mike Hahn, MacKenzie and Jacob Sloan, Amanda and Samantha Muse, Ashley and Maeve Wilbanks, and his great-granddaughter, Fallon Hahn. He is also survived by his brothers Ronald and Joanne of Loveland and Larry of Brighton and sister Annabelle and husband Jack Cook of Greeley. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Chuck and wife Patti Austin of Longmont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Floyd Krebill, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Sloan, and a grandson Lester Bledsoe.

In lieu of flowers Donald would like memorial gifts to either the Spencer Dream Center in Spencer, Iowa, Milliken Presbyterian Church General Fund or to 3J’s of Johnstown. Thanks to the people of Pathways Hospice of Larimer County who made his last days so comfortable. Thanks also to his many friends who sent cards or came to see him or just prayed for us.

Inurnment services will be held at the Johnstown Cemetery at 1 p.m. and a celebration of Don’s life will follow at the Milliken Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010. Memorial gifts may be made to the Spencer Dream Center in Spencer, Iowa, the Milliken Presbyterian Church or 3J’s Coffee House.
