She made quilts for the Morgantown Ronald McDonald House, for the WVU Hospital Children's Families and many others for family members and friends, which she presented to them as yearly presents. She loved to reminisce with family and friends, and could tell stories for hours without ever repeating the same one.
She was preceded in death by husband, Fred Gilbert Harless; daughter, Janette Rorror; parents, James Maloney and Florence Louise Webb Scarbro; sisters, Lillian Marcum and Virginia Holstein; brother, Rev. Paul Scarbro; granddaughter, Heather Brown Redden; and grandson, Christopher Dan Halstead.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Marks of Kingwood, Geneva Harless of Peytona, Pamela Jane (Randy) Halstead of Peytona, Katherine (Jim) Doss of Morgantown, Patricia (Arnold Jr.) Darnell of Maben and Melica Idler of Morgantown; sons, Fred (Connie) Harless Jr. of Danville and John (Barbara) Harless of Twin Poplars; brother, James Alvin Scarbro of Sylvester; grandchildren, Ray and Mary Katherine Crawford, John, Rodney, J.R. and Dustin Harless, Andrea and Parker Idler, Amanda Doss (Chris) Connolly, Shannon Marie Brown, Amber Wilkinson (Jason) Castle and Roger and Michael Rorrer; great-grandchildren, Austin, Adreona, Aidan, Jessica Ann, Ryan, Nevaeh, Natalie, Lucas, Micah, Makayla, David, Jessica, Juliann and Dessalyn; and numerous other family members and friends.

Anna May Whittington was born on November 13th of 1916. She has lived most of her 96 years in Nemaha County in southeast Nebraska.
Her mother taught her to sew during The Great Depression in the 1930's. And today on the doorstep of her 97th birthday, Anna May is still turning scraps into masterful works on a daily basis.
Anna May enjoys the mystery of the material that unfolds every time she creates, "I like to see how it turns out, what I can figure out."
Anna May says she remembers creating with material as a child in the 1920's, "I took a real simple piece of probably a flower sack and made a handkerchief out of it."
Even at 96 years of age, Anna May says some of the material used in her wall hangings is older than she is. The material was acquired by her mother more than a century ago.
Ken Anderson is a long-time Peru State art professor and gallery director. Ken got acquainted with Anna May's work at the Schoolhouse Gallery in Brownville, Nebraska, "I just became enamored with the design, the composition, the color, the attention to detail and I thought it needs to be displayed in a gallery. If you look around at her work you'll see the design and compositions are not unlike a painter."
If you'd like to check out Anna May's exhibition for yourself you can do just that from now until Thursday, September 19th.
There is no charge and the display is open to the public in the A.V. Larson building on the campus of Peru State College.

She was born Betty Ann Bollman on Jan. 6, 1930, in Springfield, Mo., the only child of the late Alvan L. and Mabel H. (Mitchell) Bollman. She was united in marriage to Hubert James Wolfe Jr. on April 24, 1948, in the Overland Park, Kan., Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2005. After graduating high school in Odessa, Mo., Betty attended St. Luke's nursing training in Kansas City, Mo. In addition to being a full-time mom, she worked in the dental hygiene and oral maxillofacial surgery fields until her retirement.
Betty is survived by her four sons and their wives, James Michael Wolfe, Liberty, Mo., Mark (Cynthia) Wolfe, Seattle, Wash., Randall (Patricia) Wolfe, Sewell, N.J., and Richard (Patti) Wolfe, St. Louis, Mo.; six granddaughters, Karen (Michael) Williams, Olathe, Kan.; Arwen Wolfe, PCV, Sironko, Uganda, Deborah (Steven) Scheibler, Camden, N.J., Elizabeth (Neal) Page, Baltimore, Md., Christy Wolfe, St. Louis, Mo., and Becky (Jonathan) Hanna, Washington, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren, Elaine, Thomas, Emma, Caleb and Caitlyn. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the United Methodist Church in Uniontown, Kan., under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
