10665. “HUSBAND IS GRANTED DECREE OF ANNULMENT,” Perry E Folsom and Isabelle C Kohler, San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco, CA, April 5, 1904, 11, I have reason to believe that the marriage date in this article is incorrect. It was announced in the New Castle News of Lawrence County, PA on January 24-30, 1884 suggesting that they were neither married in Chicago nor in 1885.
Man Who Married Contrary to Law Invokes Law to Gain Freedom. Superior Judge Frank H. Kerrigan handed down a decision yesterday granting Perry E. Folsom a separation from Isabel C. Folsom on the ground that he had contracted a second marriage within a year of a divorce from his first wife. The suit is somewhat novel, Inasmuch as Folsom, against the wishes of his wife, insisted upon an annulment of the nuptial contract. Folsom married Clara B. Hancock in Chicago on December 1, 1885, and continued to live with her until November 1, when she secured a divorce in the courts of Cook county, Ill. A few months afterward he came to California and on April 24, 1900, married again. He set forth in his complaint that he did not know of the law forbidding a second marriage in California within a year.

10673. “Lost Child Unclaimed for Day, Mother Held,” Jennie Kuchta, Detroit Free Press, Detroit, MI, May 23, 1952, 25.
Police held a young unwed mother who did not claim her 2-year-old daughter until nearly 24 hours after the child had been found wandering on a street.
Policewomen said they might seek a neglect charge against Jennie Kuchta, 24, who has no home.
Miss Kuchta called at Bethune Station shortly afternoon Thursday to identify a lost child as her daughter Dorothy.
Residents in the vicinity of Trumbull and Putnam notified police about 2 p. m. Wednesday when they saw the little girl toddling along, munching a candy bar.
AS HOURS passed and no missing report was turned in, the youngster became the object of a citywide mystery.
Miss Kuchta explained later that she and her two children, Dorothy and Sherri, 10 months, had arrived from Chicago Monday.
The mother said she was about to board a bus at Warren and Trumbull at 1 p. m. Wednesday when she noted that Dorothy had disappeared.
“I looked all over for her”, Miss Kuchta reported.
The child was found about a block from the bus stop, police said.
MISS KUCHTA said she searched until 11 p. m., then went to her hotel room at 4653 Third. She slept until noon Thursday, then saw Dorothy's picture in a newspaper. Miss Kuchta said she had not gone to police earlier because she was afraid they "would think I was in trouble."
Her story of the long search later was refuted by Walter Chrzanowski, 22, of 212 W. Grand, Highland Park, police said.
He was taken into custody while waiting in the lobby of her hotel.
ACCORDING to Chrzanowski. he saw her walking with a baby on Woodward near Sibley about 1:30 p. m. Wednesday. At 9 p. m. he saw her again in the vicinity of Woodward and Alexandrine, police quoted him as stating. Noting that she and the baby looked hungry, Chrzanowski offered to buy her a bowl of soup.
He then assertedly went to her hotel with her and the baby and stayed until 11 p. m., police reported.
During their conversation, she allegedly told him that her oldest daughter had been killed in an auto accident three weeks ago.
POLICEWOMEN said Miss Kuchta "appeared indifferent" when she was shown Dorothy in the Juvenile Detention Home. The child, however, smiled and seemed pleased to be reunited with her mother.
The child appeared to have been well cared for, policewomen added.

MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis man no longer faces charges of intrafamilial sex abuse after the Legislature repealed the statute under which he was charged and failed to provide a way of handling pending cases.
Charges were dismissed Thursday against Thomas Fisher Howie, 50, by Judge A. Paul Lommen of Hennepin County District Court after Howie's lawyer, Martin Costello, pointed out the changes in the state law. Such charges were deleted from the statute effective Aug. 1. Intrafamilial sex crimes now are prosecuted under the criminal sexual conduct statute.
Howie could still be recharged under the new state law, however, Jean Hoag, an assistant Hennepin County prosecutor, said. Hoag said she would decide by Tuesday whether to recharge Howie or appeal Lommen's decision, which could influence a number of other cases in Minnesota.
