10455. “HUSBAND IS GRANTED DECREE OF ANNULMENT,” Perry E Folsom and Isabelle C Kohler, San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco, CA, April 5, 1904, 11, I have reason to believe that the marriage date in this article is incorrect. It was announced in the New Castle News of Lawrence County, PA on January 24-30, 1884 suggesting that they were neither married in Chicago nor in 1885.
Man Who Married Contrary to Law Invokes Law to Gain Freedom. Superior Judge Frank H. Kerrigan handed down a decision yesterday granting Perry E. Folsom a separation from Isabel C. Folsom on the ground that he had contracted a second marriage within a year of a divorce from his first wife. The suit is somewhat novel, Inasmuch as Folsom, against the wishes of his wife, insisted upon an annulment of the nuptial contract. Folsom married Clara B. Hancock in Chicago on December 1, 1885, and continued to live with her until November 1, when she secured a divorce in the courts of Cook county, Ill. A few months afterward he came to California and on April 24, 1900, married again. He set forth in his complaint that he did not know of the law forbidding a second marriage in California within a year.

MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis man no longer faces charges of intrafamilial sex abuse after the Legislature repealed the statute under which he was charged and failed to provide a way of handling pending cases.

Charges were dismissed Thursday against Thomas Fisher Howie, 50, by Judge A. Paul Lommen of Hennepin County District Court after Howie's lawyer, Martin Costello, pointed out the changes in the state law. Such charges were deleted from the statute effective Aug. 1. Intrafamilial sex crimes now are prosecuted under the criminal sexual conduct statute.

Howie could still be recharged under the new state law, however, Jean Hoag, an assistant Hennepin County prosecutor, said. Hoag said she would decide by Tuesday whether to recharge Howie or appeal Lommen's decision, which could influence a number of other cases in Minnesota.

Dwayne Arnold Johnson passed away peacefully in his home in Norquay, SK on October 8, 2016, at the age of 98 years. Dwayne was born March 19, 1918 on the family farm southwest of Norquay, SK to Fred and Ida (Berglund) Johnson. He attended Moss Lake School and completed his grade ten education by correspondence. In 1936, he attended a six-week Bible School in Alpine, MB. In the fall of 1937, he met a pretty, young school teacher by the name of Marjorie Roe and they were united in marriage on October 10, 1940. In January 1942, Dwayne was drafted into the Canadian Army. However, due to health reasons, he received his discharge. Dwayne continued to farm with his father until 1945, when his father retired and Dwayne took over the farming operations. As a member of the Hyas and Norquay Covenant Churches, Dwayne was a regular usher for many years. Occasionally, he graciously assisted on funerals with Gibney’s and Leson’s Funeral Homes. Dwayne also served as a Councillor for the RM of Keys 303 as well as on the Moss Lake School Board. In May 1999, they moved their farm home into Norquay, just across the parking lot from their church. They also enjoyed nine pleasant winters in Yuma, Arizona, but especially loved their family gatherings throughout the years. Through his faith, and trust in the Lord, Dwayne enjoyed good health and happiness with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Dwayne was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Ida; wife, Marjorie; and his sister, Evelyn Johnson. He is survived by his two daughters, Darleen (Don) Larson and Wendy (Rod) Johnson both of Norquay, SK; his six grandchildren: Dean (K’Lynn) Larson, Darren (Sandra) Larson, Nola (Rodd) Meier, Ingrid (Doug) Wildman, Shane (Darcilyn) Johnson and Brenden (Teresa) Johnson; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
