Mr. Ralph Eugene Gaver Sr., 60, of Frederick, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at his home.
He was born Nov. 30, 1949, in Olney, to the late John Harold Sr. and Nellie Catherine Crilly Gaver.
He was employed with Schildt Construction of Thurmont, and previously employed by Bollinger Construction of Emmitsburg.
He attended Faith Baptist Church, Knoxville.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ann Mayhew Gaver of Frederick, married for 40 years; son, William Kenneth Mayhew and wife, Michele, of Hagerstown; son, Ralph Eugene Gaver Jr. and wife, Suzanne, of Brunswick; sister, Ara M. DeVinney and husband, Grant, of Suitland; sister, Mary C. Whipp and husband, Pete, of Emmitsburg; brother, John H. Gaver Jr., of Emmitsburg; brother, Richard E. Gaver and wife, Barbara, of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Tiffany, Tyler and Marissa Mayhew and Scott and Dylan Gaver; and great-grandchildren, Emir and Zaniah Barnes.
He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed, especially by one niece, Connie (Redneck) Stouter of Fairfield, Pa., as Uncle Ralph became her "Hero."
He was predeceased by three sisters, Alice Lawrence, Nancy Irwin and Bonnie Dubel.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Larry E. Matheny, 57, of Bateville, died May 8, 2006, at his home. He was born Jan. 13, 1949, at Levy, Ark., to Allison B. and Merle O. Griffin Matheny.
He was a member of the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church located near Cave City.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Matheny of the home; one son, Jeremy Matheny of Cave City; one daughter, Christy Hopper of Greenbrier; two stepsons, Jonathan Little of Walnut Ridge and Christopher Little of Batesville; three brothers, Curtis Matheny of Cave City, Michael Matheny of Marysville, Calif., and Richard Matheny of Batesville; three sisters Patricia Whitaker and Carolyn Wammack both of Batesville, and Tammy Rogers of Fort Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral services were held May 10 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Carroll Kinley officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Sidney with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

She loved to reminisce with family and friends, and could tell stories for hours without ever repeating the same one.
She was preceded in death by husband, Fred Gilbert Harless; daughter, Janette Rorror; parents, James Maloney and Florence Louise Webb Scarbro; sisters, Lillian Marcum and Virginia Holstein; brother, Rev. Paul Scarbro; granddaughter, Heather Brown Redden; and grandson, Christopher Dan Halstead.
