Elsie J. Ross, 88, of Friend died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend.
She was born June 29, 1918, in Lincoln to Fredrick and Augusta (Cowden) Danek. As a young girl, she attended Lincoln Public Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School, continuing her education at the University of Nebraska where she graduated with a teaching degree. She began a long career in teaching at several small Nebraska schools before her marriage to Raymond W. “Pete” Ross on July 20, 1943. Following World War II, they made their home in Friend where she continued teaching until her retirement in 1982. She taught both elementary and high school, teaching Spanish, algebra and taking care of the school library. Her husband preceded her in death in 2005.
She was a member of First Congregational Church in Friend, American Legion Auxiliary 183 of Friend and the Friend Rebeckah Lodge.
Survivors include: a son, Raymond W. “Bill” Ross of Friend; and a daughter, Barbara J. Houser of Fremont.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law.
A private graveside funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Andrew Cemetery with the Rev. Tim and Ginny Adams officiating.

Houser was bom Oct 19, 1940, in Wilber. He grew up in Fremont and was a 1959 graduate of Fremont Senior High School. He was employed at Val-mont Industries in Valley for 32 years. He served two years in the United States Army Reserves. He married Barbara Ross June 1, 1991, in Fremont.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, UCC, and Fremont Air-boat Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen (and wife, Shelly) Houser of Fremont; a daughter, Elizabeth (Mrs. David) Schaefer of Santa Cruz, Calif.; three brothers, Victor (and wife, Kay) Houser, Eugene (and wife, Ann) Houser, and Richard (and wife, Sharon) Houser, all of Fremont; a sister, Dorothy Houser of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The Rev. Judith Hambleton will officiate Saturdays service. Visitation will be 1-9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The visitation will continue one hour prior to Saturdays service at the church. Burial will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont Memorials have been established to American Heart Association and Fremont Airboat building fund.

Willis passed away Wednesday morning at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Violet Brady of Lincoln, Florence Hart of Greeley, CO., and many nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Willis was born September 26, 1932 at Page, Nebraska to Gus and Marie (Nickel) Robinson. He graduated from the Page High School with the honor of Salutatorian of his class. On March 10, 1953, Willis entered the United States Army serving his Country during the Korean Conflict. He received his honorable discharge on February 17, 1955. Willis returned to Page and made his living as a farmer.
He was a member of the Page American Legion Post # 315. Rev. Eric Ford will officiate.

Daughter of Gus and Marie Robinson she grew up on a small farm in northern Nebraska near the town of Page. Her early life was shaped by rural living, the depression and dust bowl days of the thirty’s. Educated in a one-room schoolhouse until time came for high school when she moved into town and stayed with a family until graduation then going on to graduate from college.
She had four sisters, Rose, Violet, Lilly, Fern, and a brother Willis. She was close to all of them and loved their families very much. Lilly and she traveled to many places together-Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, and America. She outlived all of her siblings and missed each one of them.
Married to Lester Hart, later divorced, she had four children, Mil, Cletia, Becky and Tom. After living in Connecticut and throughout Nebraska the family settled in Greeley. Where they opened a Kings Food Host restaurant in downtown Greeley. In the early seventy’s she found her true calling in business-real estate sales. For over twenty-five years and countless clients she made her living doing what she wanted to do. She was involved in several developments in Greeley and lived in the townhome, which she had built, until having to move to a life care facility.
Among many things I want to mention about mom is that she instilled a strong, and maybe too much so, sense of independence in all her kids. She was also a talented seamstress and made many of her clothes. At one time she taught sewing classes for Singer. I must also mention “the coat” she made from wool picked up on a trip to Canada with Lilly. She was so proud of that coat. An avid bridge player for many years she played into her mid-eighties until the cruel degeneration of Alzheimer’s took her mind.
She is survived by her immediate family, 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Florence’s life will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at The Greeley Guest House 5401 West 9th St., Greeley.
Friends and acquaintances are encouraged to come and share your memories of mom and celebrate her life.

James E. Hauck, 46, died April 13, 2006 in New Castle, Colorado. James was born in St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minn. to Dewayne and Faye (Couillard) Hauck. His young years were spent in the Mahtowa, Barnum area and at the cabin at Hanging Horn. A few years in Florida and back to graduate in Moose Lake. He worked on the oil rigs in Colorado and for many years helped build the high road in Glenwood Canyon, Colorado. His last job was at the Coop in New Castle, Colorado. James loved camping, fishing, kayaking, and elk hunting; also working with wood, stone and agates. James was preceded in death by grandparents Jack and Leona Hauck, Rice Lake, Wis.; Claude and Fern Couillard, Moose Lake, Minn. He will be missed greatly by his surviving mother, Faye M. Faye Marie Hauck, 90, of Carlton passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
She was born Aug. 18, 1926 in Moose Lake to Claude and Fern (Collard) Couillard.
She grew up in West Duluth and in 1944, the family moved to Dobie, Wis. It was in Dobie that she met Dewayne "Bud" Hauck and shortly thereafter they were married. Bud was in the service so they lived in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to Mahtowa in the late 1940's. Bud passed away in 1971. Faye moved to Largo, Fla., in 1972 and in 1977 moved to Bee Town, Wis., where she owned and operated a bar and restaurant.
In 1980, she was visiting family in Mahtowa and she attended the Fireman's Dance at the North Star Ballroom. It was here that she met Terry Maki and the two hit it off from the start and danced the night away. He moved to Bee Town and helped Faye run the restaurant and bar until 1989, when they moved to Carlton.
Faye and Terry enjoyed traveling. They enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, Tip of South Africa, and the Amazon River. They also took guided trips to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and the Dominican Republic. Her favorite trip of all time was the African Safari. When she wasn't traveling, she enjoyed flower gardening and bird watching.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; sons, James and Jack Hauck; and brother, Jay Couillard.
She is survived and will be sadly missed by her loving significant other of 37 years, Terry Maki of Carlton; her son, Robert (Sue) Hauck of Rifle, Colo.; daughters, Gayle (Tom) Raunio of Brainerd, Amy (Laddie) Litfin of Mahtowa, and Naomi Hauck of Lake Geneva, Wis.; sisters, Claudette (Dick) Watson of Mahtowa and Marian Valley of Cloquet; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, March 10, 2017 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in Riverside Cemetery at Barnum.
