John Krieger, Jr., 98, of Berthoud, died June 24, 2006 at the Berthoud
Living Center, with his family at his bedside. John was born October 11,
1907 in Norka, Russia to John Krieger, Sr. and Margaret (Sterkel)
Krieger. The family came to the United States when he was 6 years old.
He became an American citizen on June 29, 1934. John married Pauline
Deines on February 12, 1928 in Berthoud, Colorado. They moved into their
home in the fall of 1947 and lived there together until her death on
January 3, 2002. John continued to live there until April 10, 2006. John
was a farmer prior to going to work for Larimer County in 1947. He
retired in 1972. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of
Berthoud, and a member of Little Thompson Grange of Berthoud. He loved
his garden, which he shared with family and friends. He also loved
fishing and going to Bennett's Tackle Shop to be with fellow fishermen.
He loved all of his family and treasured the time spent with them. John
is survived by a son, Willard Krieger and wife Phyllis of Loveland;
grandson, Stanley Buehler and wife Jennifer of Aurora, granddaughters
Carole Davis and husband Don of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Juli Anne
VanDelinder and husband Jami of Thornton; seven great-grandchildren, two
great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Kaiser of Loveland. He is
preceded in death by his wife Pauline, daughter Louise Buehler, brothers
George, Conrad, and Adam Krieger, sisters Christina Glantz, Katherine
Schleiger, Elizabeth Johnson, and Anna Beckel. Funeral services will be
held 10 AM, Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church in
Berthoud. Viewing will take place from 1-5 PM, Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at
Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery in
Berthoud. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Krieger
Memorial Fund in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln
Avenue, Loveland, CO 80537.

Mrs. Geist was born Aug. 29, 1906, in Rockland, Idaho to George L. and Pearl Z. Ferkins Young. She attended schools in Walla Walla and Bellevue, Idaho. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Herlong, Calif.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Zella Mae and Tony Pallis of Ontario, Ore., Tessie B. Nanson of Portola, Calif., Winifred and Arnold Yost of Ellensburg, Wahnetta and Leonard Bishop of Las Vegas, Nev., and Mary Stella and Ron Troge of Pasco; a step-daughter, Marjorie Brotherton of Walla Walla; sons, Fletcher DeForest Fisher of Clayton, Idaho, and Billy Don and wife Joann Fisher of Bellevue; sister Nellie Pilgrim of Rialto, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Fisher, in 1942 and her second husband, John Geist, in 1984, as well as eight brothers and sisters and one step-son, Bob Geist.

Arnold L. "Al" YOST Arnold L. "Al" Yost, 82, died September 23, 2005 in Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. He was born June 14, 1923 in Hastings, NE to Henry and Marie (Lyons) Yost. He attended and graduated from high school in Sterling, Colorado. He later met and married Winifred G. Fisher and they were married on July 19, 1953 in Las Vegas, NV.

He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge, he will always be remembered for his extreme generosity and willingness to always help others; many, many people are better persons because of his willingness to help them all the while requesting that they help themselves too.

Al thoroughly enjoyed making things work, he enjoyed investing in real estate, building, woodworking, cars, traveling; and especially took pleasure in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He just loved being and was a very special husband, companion, friend and Dad.

He is survived by his wife of more than 52 years Winifred, son David A. (Debbie) Yost of Renton, daughters Dencia Hunter of Oroville and Maria A. (Peter) Verhaar of Kent, WA; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Allen Yost.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, P.O. Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98105-0371. A Celebration of Al's life will be held at a later date, location and time to be announced. Arrangements in care of Steward & Williams Tribute Center.

Fletcher DeForrest Fisher

Fletcher D. “Bud” Fisher, 72, Clayton, died Friday, January 10, 1997 due to an extended illness.

Fletcher was born December 7, 1925 at Claton, the son of William and Gynnie Fisher. He attended schools in Clayton. As a teenager he worked as a ranch hand in the family mines up Slate Creek.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1941. He served aboard the U.S.S. Massachusets and New Jersey as a boiler technician. He served during World War II. He was aboard the USS Chicago when it was torpedoed off of Guadal Canal and he was one of only three survivors.

On October 5, 1947 he married Pattie Hutchins of Walla Walla, Washington. The couple had seven children. They divorced in 1963. While in Walla Walla he worked as vice principal at Prospect Point School, managed Payton’s Boat Shop and ran the farm labor camps. He also worked for International Harvester in Spokane, Washington.

Upon returning to Clayton he married Thelma Van Pelt. There were no children born to this union. He then worked for four years at Simplot in Blackfoot. They then returned home to his beloved mountain up Slate Creek. He was a mining engineer and remained working the family mines until his health prevented it.

He was a member of Central Christian Church, Walla Walla, Washington. He received his Doctor of Divinity in 1980. He was a lifetime member of the Presidential Republican Task Force inducted by Rondald Reagan in 1989. He also belonged to AARP, the Coast Guard Auxilliary, and the Elks.

He was president of Mineral Hills Mining District and a lifetime member of Central Idaho Mining where he fought for miners’ rights back in Washington, D.C.

Fletcher enjoyed working with his hands, and had any part anyone would need. During winter months he could be found fixing up the neighborhood kids’ sleds. He had a wonderful sense of humor and quite the jokester.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiles and horseback riding. He loved driving through the mountains. In younger years, he drove stock cars and rode the rodeo circuit. He enjoyed the grandchildren and always kept the Forest Service on their toes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a grandson. He is survived by two sons, Dan and Bill Fisher of Clayton; five daughters, Norene Stevens, Pendleton, Oregon, Terri Rothwell, Waitsburg, Washington, Vickie Staples, Coupeville, Washington, Pattie Record, Walla Walla Washington, and Gwyn Biegel, Dayton, Washington; one brother, William Fisher, Belevue, Washington; five sisters, Rella Pallis, Ontario, Oregon, Tessie Nanson, Portola, California, Wahnetta Bishop, Henderson, Nevada, Geri Yost, Ellensburg, Washington, Mary Troge, Pasco, Washington; numberous nieces, nephews, cousins, 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, january 17 at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise. Memorial services were held Tuesday, January 21 at the American Legion Hall in Clayton.

Dencia Ann Pedersen Hunter, 66, of Lowesville, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 4, 2013. She was born December 18, 1946 in Sterling, Colorado.

She was first a mother but also a homemaker, seamstress, artist, thrift shop enthusiast, entrepreneur, plant and animal lover. She was a creative and free spirited visionary, always remaining true to her conviction to live a life free from conformity. Dencia was blessed with the gift of hospitality and never hesitated to cook meals for family, friends and even strangers. She had such a generous spirit that many of her children’s friends and her friends children thought of her as their second mother and often returned to her home for a warm home cooked meal and a place to rest. She embraced people of all backgrounds and walks of life and her laughter warmed the hearts of many. She lived her life by faith, trusting that the Lord would always provide abundantly. She was extremely resourceful, always making due with very little yet able to provide much. Her life’s work was raising her 9 children and her legacy will live on through them and their children. Dencia’s desire was to live out her final years on the Piney River close to many of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sisters, Debbi Pedersen and Dori Pedersen of Omak, Wash. and her brother Clay Pederson of Roundup, Mont. She was a loving mother of nine children: Kristen L. and Mark Anderson of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Kenyon L. and Johnny Gibson of Lowesville, Va., Kourtney L. Hunter of Blacksburg, Va., Robert A. and Christina Hunter of Moneta, Va., Samuel I. Hunter and Amy Reese of Lowesville, Va., Klarity L. and Mark Link of Gresham, Ore., Adam E. Hunter of Spokane Wash., Kameo L. Hunter of Lowesville, Va. and Kathryn L. Hunter of Lowesville, Va.; 15 grandchildren and a great number of friends and loved ones from all over the country. Dencia was deeply loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her father Al Yost of Ellensburg, Wash. and mother Marion Pedersen of Billings, Mont.

Funeral services will be held at Piney River Baptist Church on Monday, April 8, at 2 p.m. Any contributions in her honor can be sent to PRBC at 1190 Woodson Road Lowesville, VA.
